LIMA — David Richard Crawford, 85, of Lima passed away 7:48 a.m. Sunday morning February 23, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 16, 1928 in Helen, West Virginia to Arlen and Garnet (Lambert) Crawford and they preceded him in death. On August 5, 1954 he married the love of his life, Vivian H. Baker and she survives him.
They are the parents to two children, Richard Dale (Sherry) Crawford of Bowling Green and Kathy Lynn (Russ) Larotonda of Lima. He is grandfather to three grandchildren: Kristie Bane, Kyle Crawford and Jennifer Flory and one great grandchild: Jaylyn Wilcox. He is also survived by a brother, Vincent Crawford of Toledo and a sister Betty (Don) Davis of Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Harold Crawford.
He started his career as a diesel mechanic working for Norwalk Truck Lines, which later became Central Transport and retired after 32 years. He was an Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict from 1949-1952, where he received the Purple Heart. He is a member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of VFW Post 1275. He was an avid cyclist and rower. He loved woodworking especially building clocks.
Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb 26, 2014 at SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Tony Richmond officiating. Friends may call 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
