DENNIS GARDNER

LIMA — Dennis Wayne Gardner age 65, passed away July 1, 2014, at 6:15 am, at his residence.

Dennis was born June 25, 1949 in Butler, PA, to Clair and Dorothy Anderson Gardner, his mother survives in Slippery Rock, PA. On August 4, 1973 he married Dr. Pamela Kienle Gardner who survives in Lima.

Dennis was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served as a Corpman during the Vietnam War. He then joined the U.S. Army National Guard and served for 23 years and attained the rank of Major. While in the National Guard, Dennis graduated in 1976 from the LaSalle University. He then graduated from the Hahneman University with a Physician's Assistant degree. Later he continued his education by graduating from the St. Joseph University in Philadelphia with a MBA, specializing in pharmaceutical sales. He also was the owner and operator of Full Spectrum Stable since 2003 and Tack Shop since 2009. Dennis was a member of the Ohio Valley Friesian Horse Association and also the United States Equestrian Federation. He loved the outdoors, including fishing and hunting. Most of all he loved traveling with his wife all over the world. He will be remembered as a dedicated husband and father and was a true renaissance man.

He is survived by a son, Todd W. (Rebecca) Gardner of Lima, OH, a brother, Donald (LouAnn) Gardner of Rock Hill, SC, a brother, Kevin (Mary) Gardner of Fayetteville, PA, and a sister, Deborah (James) Garrison of Hudson, OH.

He was preceded in death by his father.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday July 5, 2014 at the St. Charles Catholic Church at 9:00 am. Officiating the service will be Fr. Stephen Blum. Following the service, burial will be in the Gethsemani Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES SHAWNEE CHAPEL on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and then on Friday from 2-6 pm. On Thursday, visitation hours will be followed by a 8:00 pm parish wake service. Military honors will be provided by the VFW # 1275.
