DELPHOS — Esther E. Bielawski, 83, died at 1:47 a.m. May 2, 2014, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born June 11, 1930, in Lima, to Leo and Clara Schulte Omlor, who preceded her in death. She married Hilary Bielawski, who died April 20, 1970.
Mrs. Bielawski was the editor at The Delphos Herald. She was also a great cook and enjoyed spending time with her family. She wrote poetry and collected antiques. She was eager to volunteer for many charities. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she taught catechism. For a number of years, she was in charge of the Chimbote Collection in Peru, which inspired her to go on a mission trip. Because of her deep love, she visited the Our Lady of Medjugorje shrine. She was a a member of the German choir, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Eagles Auxiliary and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, Joe Bielawski, of Fort Jennings, Tony Bielawski, of Atlanta, and Edward (Stella) Bielawski, of Naperville, Ill.; a grandchild, Athena Bielawski; and a sister, Lucille Becker, of Delphos.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Delores Fischbach, Ladonna Keller and Jean Niedecken.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Father Thomas Gorman will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, where a parish wake service will begin at 8 p.m.
