LIMA — After a courageous 1 year, 11 day battle with a glioblastoma multiforme tumor, a form of brain cancer, Mr. Schramm succumb Monday the 11th of August, at the age of 72, where he died at home in St. Augustine FL, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Lima, Ohio September 6th, 1941, he graduated from Lima Senior High in 1959. He went on to graduate from The Ohio State University in 1972. Prior to graduating he served for 2 years in the US Army, and was stationed in Nuremberg, Germany.

Avid Buckeye fans, Mr. Schramm and his wife were OSU season football ticket holders for 40 yrs.

Mr. Schramm worked for Ford Motor Co. for a total of 40 yrs transferring from Lima, OH, to Chihuahua, Mexico, and finally to Dearborn, MI where he worked until he retired from World Headquarters in 1999 as an Accounting Manager. After a brief retirement he was contracted by British Tire and Rubber to serve as a Controller for 2 years in Torreon, Mexico. After returning to the United States, Mr. Schramm owned and operated several businesses in Columbus, OH prior to relocating to St. Augustine, FL in 2013. Business and pleasure made him a World traveler.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Wauneta (Ritchie) Schramm, his brother Donald Schramm, father-in-law Carl E. Corrello, Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tony Testa and Nancy (Corrello) Testa.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Cathy J. (Corrello) Schramm, Son and daughter-in-law Scott and Amber (Murdoch) Schramm, and two grandsons Andrew, and Ryan, all of St. Augustine. Brother Joe Schramm and sister Dorothy Schramm both of Cridersville, OH., Mother-in-law Helen Corrello of Lima OH , Sister-in-law Jeanne (Larry) Burnette of Lillian, AL. Also, nieces Jenny (MacRitchie) Lopez, and Kim Schramm, nephews David (Carol) Schramm and John (Susan) MacRitchie.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11:00 am. @ Southside Christian Church on Eastown Rd & W. Elm St. with Rev. Wanda Werking (Mr. Schramm's cousin) officiating.
