OTTAWA — Jane C. Hermiller, 92, of Ottawa, died 1:35 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014 at her residence. She was born August 31, 1921 in rural Ottawa to the late Joseph and Philomena (Barlage) Fenbert. On July 10, 1948, she married Francis X. "Hank" Hermiller in St. Anthony's Church in Columbus Grove, and he survives in Ottawa.
She is also survived by her 3 daughters: Linda (Tom) Diller , Teresa (Don) Croy and Barbara Hermiller all of Ottawa; a son: Joseph (Kathy) Hermiller of Ottawa; 10 grandchildren: Didi Allen of Saudi Arabia; Greg Hermiller, Matt Diller, Jeff Croy, Lyle Croy and Jenna Doepker all of Ottawa; Angela Tucker and Cory Brinkman of Lima, Jacqueline Doepker of Cleveland and Sarah Guy of South Point; 16 great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild; and 3 sisters-in-law: Angela Lammers, Mildred Agner and Mary Elizabeth (Marvin) Dubbs. Jane is also preceded in death by 3 sisters: Elsie Fenbert, Marie Newton and Eleanor Corwin; a brother, Bill Fenbert and 6 brothers-in-law: Bill Newton, Dan Corwin, Kim Wray, Don Lammers, Bob Agner and Robert J. Hermiller.
Jane graduated from Pandora High School and from Beauty College in Lima. She owned, operated and worked in salons in Gilboa, Glandorf, Ottawa and Pandora, retiring in 1996 from Sara Beth's Beauty Shop in Pandora.
Jane was a charter member of the Ottawa Eagles Auxiliary and a VIM Member of the Ottawa American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Ottawa VFW Auxiliary, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society, and the American Association of Retired People (AARP).
She enjoyed playing cards, playing bingo and an occasional trip to the casinos. She also loved gardening and canning her own produce. She was an ardent fisherman and she and her husband kept a fishing boat at Lake Erie for 19 summers. Most of all, Jane enjoyed family parties where she could get together with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids and live her motto "Enjoy life while you can".
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Father Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with a scripture service at 8 p.m.
