DELPHOS — Kenneth J. Dickrede, 75, died at 4:35 a.m. March 25, 2014, at his residence, with his wife by his side.

He was born April 21, 1938, in Allen County to Ralph and Edna Fischer Dickrede, who preceded him in death. On July 4, 1963, he married Jean Schimmoeller, who survives in Delphos. They were married for 50 years.

Mr. Dickrede retired in 1997 from General Motors Plant, Defiance, after 30 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. He was a 1956 graduate of Delphos St. John's High School. He was a veteran of the Army Reserve. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 471 and United Auto Workers Local 211. He loved reading and was a lifelong learner. He enjoyed walking in the woods and on the farm, and traveling with his wife. His greatest joy was spending time with his wonderful family and friends.

Survivors also include two sons, Kevin (Beth) Dickrede, of Toledo, and Duane (Lisha) Dickrede, of Delphos; a daughter, Karen (Glenn) Aldis, of Torrance, Calif.; four sisters, Jane (Bob) Hanneman, of Glandorf, Irma Schwinnen, of Spencerville, and Ann (John) Elder and Mary (Paul) Elder, both of Fennville, Mich.; a brother, Jerry (Dee) Dickrede, of Delphos; 11 grandchildren, Emma and Amanda Aldis, Alexander and Michael Dickrede, Jason and Jamie Smith, Tyler Dickrede, Lindsay (Steve) Richards, Ashley (Jon) Finn, Whitney (Nick) Ruhe and Alex Garza; and two great-grandchildren, Melia and Gianna Richards.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Bryan Dickrede; in-laws, Kenneth and Mary Ann Schimmoeller; two brothers, Richard and Elmer Dickrede; a daughter-in-law, Nan Dickrede; and a brother-in-law, Bernie Schwinnen.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
