LIMA — Leo "Buzz" Henry Burden age 75, passed away March 7, 2014 at 10:12 am at the Lima Memorial Health System. Leo was born May 9, 1938 in St. Mary's , OH to Howard L. and Cynthia Krimus Burden who preceded him in death. He was previously married to Sandra Burden, who survives in Lima. Leo joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Fessenden. After his military service he came home and had worked at various local factories until he took a position with the City of Lima in the Waste Water Treatment Plant and had worked there for 28 years, retiring in 2001. Leo was a life member of the American Legion Post #96, Elk's BPOE #54 and the Eagles #370. Leo loved sports including the Ohio State Buckeyes, Boston Celtics, Cleveland Indians and Browns. He was known for being a true family man and was known as "Pops" by many people. He is survived by 2 Sons; Thomas Burden of Columbus, OH, Jerry Burden of Lima, OH, a Daughter; Robin (Mike) Whiteside of Lima, OH, a Granddaughter; Anesia Benton of Atlanta, GA, 4 Step-Grandsons; Maurice, Mikey, Justin, Ryan, a Brother, Larry (Kay) Burden of St. Mary's, OH, a Sister; Carol Dietz of St. Mary's, OH and a close companion of many years; Marlene Counts. He was preceded in death by 2 Brothers; Jerry Joe and Dean Burden. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 11:00 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Friends may call on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Internment will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery. There will be Military Rites being provided by the VFW # 1275 and the U.S. Navy. Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Hospice.
