SPENCERVILLE — Lloyd R. "Dick" LAPE; 82, of Spencerville, died 7:50 PM Wednesday in his residence, June25,2014
of an extended illness, with his family at his side.
He was born December 2,1931 near Bowling Green, a son of John L. and Mabel Crates Lape, who are deceased. On July 26,1952 he married Irene H. Miller, who survives, along with2 daughters; Vickie (Mike) Dickrede of Elida and Shelly (Dave) Fenton of Delphos; 5 grandchildren; Charles (Tressa) Mulholland of Spencerville; Brent (Angie) Mulholland of Canal Winchester; Adam (Erin Locke) Lape of Ann Arbor, MI.; Megan (Joe) Sharpe of Spencerville; and Emilie (Bryan Brissette) Fenton of Delphos; 6 great grand children; Alyssa, Kacie, Julie and Whitney Mulholland and Victoria and Bennett Mulholland; 2 siblings; Carl (Ruth) Lape of Van Wert and Helen (John) Kidd of Weston Ohio and his brother and sister-in-law; Hank (Marie) Longstreth of Lima.
Dick was preceded in death by his son; Randy D. Lape and four siblings; John Lape, Jr.: Fred Lape; Gerald Lape and infant JoAnn Lape.
He was a member of Christ Holy Methodist Church in South Liberty, OH. and attended the Friends Church in Spencerville where he had served as trustee. He had served in the US Air Force as an M.P. during the Korean War and was a long time member of the Hany J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191 and also was aLife Member of the Bowersock Bros. VFW Post6772, both of Spencerville. He enjoyed the Smoky Mountains,Deer hunting, camping, coaching Little League ball and above all spending time with his family and the grand kids.
He had worked on the B. & O. Railroad, Hardesty Chevrolet, Lima Westinghouse, Koenig Chevrolet as service manager and retired after 27 years as School Bus mechanic and supervisor at the Spencerville Scools.
Funeral services will be 3 PM Sunday in the THOMAS E.BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME in Spencerville, Pastor Charles H. Johnson offrciating. The Spencerville Veterans will conduct military Rites following the services at the funeral home.
Friends may call from 1 PM until 3 PM service time on Sunday.
