LIMA — Neil D. Augsburger, 90, passed away at 6:20 p.m. on March 13, 2014 at the Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born on November 6, 1923, in Lafayette, to Dewey M. & Nora A. Ackerman Augsburger, who have preceded him in death. On September 29, 1951, he married Georgine M. Jenkins, who passed away on November 14, 2004.

In 1941, he graduated from Lima Central High School, and then attended Ohio Northern University. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, serving in Naples, Italy in the Chemical Warfare Corps. He retired in 1986 as President of Liberty Moving & Storage. While his children were young, he volunteered with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and coached Little League Baseball. He was a member of the VFW Post #1275, where he helped with the parade floats. He was also a life member of the Masonic Lodge 205 Free & Accepted Masons. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, boating, woodworking, and gardening. He also bowled with the Senior League at Northland Lanes.

Survivors include: three children, Marsha Ann & Dr. Michael Chadwick, of Liberty Center, Darcy L. Tidd, of Lima, and Nelson D. & Lacinda Augsburger, of Lima; four grandchildren, Kendra Tidd, Libby & Adam Kloeppel, Jacob & Amanda Augsburger, and Dewey Augsburger; and three great-grandchildren, Jaden Augsburger, Hunter Kloeppel, and Wyatt Kloeppel.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by the VFW Post 1275 and the United States Army Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where a Masonic Service will begin at 7:30 p.m.
