ELIDA — Otis D. Edwards, 84, died at 8:34 A.M., Monday, November 11, 2013 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
Otis was born July 29, 1929 in Allen County to William and Anna Anders Edwards who preceded him in death. On October 15, 1950 he married Nelda L. Sroufe who preceded him in death on November 16, 1999.
Otis was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII. On December 31, 1991 he retired as an electrician from Lima Correctional Facility where he had been employed for 30 years. Otis was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Elida; a life member of the NRA; V.F.W. Post # 1275 and AMVETS #1.
He also was a gemologist. Otis enjoyed skeet trap shooting and hunting.
He enjoyed life to the fullest and helping people out in their time of need. Most of all he did work for the Lord.
Otis is survived by a son, Dennis A. Edwards of Beaverdam; a granddaughter; a half sister, Betty Felicanio of Celina and a sister-in-law Linda Edwards of Van Wert.
He was preceded in death by a son, David A. Edwards; a brother, Lowell E. Edwards; three half brothers, Paul Edwards, Blaine Edwards, and Jon Dean.
Services will be 11 a.m., Thursday at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 699 Sunnydale Ave, Elida. Rev. Bruce Tumblin officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Mennonite Cemetery with military rites.
