THATCHER, Ariz. — Patrick Layne Dick Sr., 65, died Sept. 15, 2013, at his residence.

He was born May 25, 1948, in Toledo to Leo L. and Loueva G. Dick. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives. His wife, Julie Dick, survives.

Mr. Dick and his family moved to Lima, where he graduate from Lima High School. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he received a degree in diesel mechanics from the University of Northwestern Ohio. He worked as a diesel mechanic in Lima, before moving to Arizona. he enjoyed many things in his lifetime, including mechanics, paint and auto body, drag and stock car racing, old Western movies, playing pool and riding his motorcycle. He was a very giving man for those who got to know him and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for a friend.

Survivors also include two brothers, James Dick and Donald Michael Dick; a sister, Denise Lusk; a son, Patrick L. Dick Jr.; three daughters, Tammy Dick, Mickel Dick and Esther Daniels; three grandchildren, Logan Hickens and Dakota and Hunter O'Malley; and several dear friends.

Services were held Oct. 12 at Vining Funeral Homes Chapel of the Valley, with military honors by Gila Valley Veterans Honor Guard.
