Philip Walters

GOMER — Philip D. Walters, 83, passed away at 4:25 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health Systems. He was born on June 10, 1930, in Lima to Emily Jean Smith and was later adopted by Harold E. Walters, they have both preceded him in death.

He was a graduate of Lima Senior High School. He then proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Vistron Chemical, where he worked in maintenance. He attended the Gomer United Church of Christ. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and had an orchard and strawberry farm. He enjoyed watching and cheering on The Ohio State University Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds.

He is survived by three children, David A. & Peg Walters, of Waynesfield, Barry L. Walters, of Gomer, and Lori A. Walters Steiner, of Elida; six grandchildren, Kent & Amber Walters, Melissa Walters, Matthew & Jessica Walters, Danielle & Kevin Niese, Michael Walters, Chase Steiner; two great-granddaughters, Livija Pearl Walters and Eleanor Mae Walters; a sister, Linda E. Walters, of Lima; a sister-in-law, Lisa "Lelo" Walters, of Banning, California; and previous wife, Anne Davis Walters, of Lima.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William Walters; and a grandson, Taylor Walters.

A graveside memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. March 29, 2014 at Pike Run Cemetery. Pastor Rich Rakay will officiate, with military rites by the VFW Post 1275 and the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
