LOUISE SAUER

LIMA — T. Louise Sauer, 86, went to be with her Savior, surrounded by her loving family at 3:30 pm Wednesday, August 6, 2014 in her home. It is with great sadness we say goodbye, but our hearts are also filled with joy, as Louise is in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Louise was born December 23, 1927 in Lima to the late Owen E. and Thelma E. (Reams) Reilly.

Louise was raised by her aunt, Marie (Reilly) Reher, her legal guardian, who got Louise a job at the Lima Tank Depot between her junior and senior year at Lima Central High School. It was there that she met the love of her life, Robert L. "Bob" Sauer. They were married on January 22, 1945. Bob preceded her in death on April 22, 2006 after 61 loving years of marriage.

Mrs. Sauer was a 1945 graduate of Lima Central High School and loved catching up with all of her fun classmates during their monthly luncheons at Casa Lu Al.

Louise and her husband started and operated Sauer Window Cleaning in 1947, owned Decker's Fishing Resort in Colorado, where her husband served as the Mayor. They also established and operated the Pony Keg Party Shop for many years. Louise was an active member of the Lima community for many years. As a young woman she volunteered at the Rail Road Stations "All Service Men's Canteen". Louise was a hospice volunteer for many years, was active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, serving as a Den Mother. She was a member of Shawnee United Methodist Church since 1958, serving as treasurer of the Share Circle for 35 years. Louise also took part in the "Walk to Emmaus" in Sidney, Ohio.

Louise and Bob loved Square Dancing and put on exhibitions in many cities. She was a member of Ada Senior Citizens, Elks BPOE #54, Eagles Aeries #370 Auxiliary, Leisel Sondheimers YWCA Widows Club, the fun "Red Hat Hot Mama's", Wednesday night Supper Club, and volunteered at the Lima Civic Center for many years. Louise truly loved it all!

She was a two time Breast Cancer survivor, and truly appreciated the love others gave her, they were the light of her life and kept her "Irish eyes smiling", even on the darkest of days. She expressed her appreciation and love for others in the many cards and letters she sent to family and friends.

Louise dearly loved the Lord, and cherished and adored her loving husband, children, grandchildren, and entire family. She always counted her blessings, and her heart and mind always remained focused on those she loved.

Mrs. Sauer will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her for her "Irish Witt", the twinkle in her eyes, and her funny stories.

Louise and Bob were blessed with six children, Sharon "Sue" (Greg) Zupan, Robin L. (Dennis) Goodwin, Steven R. Sauer, Dirk J. (Margaret) Sauer, Gregory A. Sauer, all of Lima, and Daniel O. Sauer, who preceded them in death; nine grandchildren, Brett Frymeyer, Jarrett Gibbs, Brandon Sauer, Eric Schreves, Lyndsey Dally Donley, J. Zachary Dally, Abigail D. Spencer, F. Luke Taschler, and Eli Goodwin; twelve great-grandchildren, Gage, Collen, Emma Louise, Alyssa Jayne, Autumn, Colton Daniel, Eli, Sophia, Naome, Issac, Charolette and Cambree Ann; twenty one step-grandchildren.
