LIMA — Rev. Warren. D. Jacobs, 90, went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2014 at Lima Memorial Health Systems. On May 3, he had been surrounded by family and friends to celebrate his upcoming birthday. On May 4, his church family held a celebration that he was unable to attend.

He was born in Kossuth, Ohio on May 7, 1924 to Floyd and Lulu Stiles Jacobs. On Aug 28, 1953, he married Ruby I. Zimmerman who preceded him in death in 2005. Rev. Jacobs farmed with his dad and was a U.S. Army dispatcher in the 10th Mountain Division in Italy during World War II. He was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his services.

He attended Wheaton College and Grace Theological Seminary. He pastored at the First Baptist Church of Wauseon, Ohio and worked for the Globe Warnicke Co. In 1969, he moved his family to Pontiac, Michigan to teach at Midwestern Baptist College where he taught for 8 years. He then became the Associate Pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Birmingham, Michigan for 6 years. From there, he and his wife, Ruby, moved to Milford, Ohio where he taught at School of the Scriptures at Milford Baptist Church for 4 years. He and Ruby retired to Lima, Ohio where they were active members of Calvary Bible Church. He continued to use his teaching abilities by volunteering for many years at Lima Christian Academy.

He loved to sing for weddings and in quartets. He shared life with many of his nieces and nephews who brought joy to his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby; son-in-law, Andy Anderson; and 6 siblings, Harlon Jacobs, Rosaline Whetstone, Luella Bell, Mary Ellen Haudenshield, Alma Ruth Rolston, and Richard Jacobs.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Ruth Anderson of Sylvan Lake, MI, Darlene (Stephen) George of Pearland, TX., and Nancy Parker of Grand Blanc, MI; 1 son, Daniel (Sarah) Jacobs of Mobile, Alabama; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A private burial was held at Fairmount Cemetery with Military Honors.

A memorial service will be held Saturday May 24, 2014 at Calvary Bible Church, 3180 West Elm St., Lima, Ohio 45805.

Visitation - 2-3 p.m. and Service at 3 p.m. officiated by Pastor Keith Hamblen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Bible Church or Lima Christian Academy.
