LIMA — William "Whitey" Willis Jones, 87, died at 11:18 AM on Thursday, February 06, 2014, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.

William was born on March 25, 1926, in Flat Gap, Kentucky, to Littleton Henry Jones and Cynthia [Salyer] Jones.

William married Nora B. Fogt on May 2, 1947, who preceded him in death in January of 1990. He served in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS Tennessee, where he received five Bronze Stars. He was a life member of the Lima VFW Post # 1275. He loved old western movies, country music, gardening, dogs and cats. He owned and operated William Jones Roofing for many years.

He is survived by: a daughter Linda (Jeffrey) Spear Sr., of Convoy, OH,; a son Michael (Kathryn) Jones, of Lima, OH; a daughter Angela (David) Ogle, of Lima, OH; a son Gregory Jones, of Columbus, OH; a son Steven Jones, Lima, OH; six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jodi) Spear Jr., Robert (Shannon) Spear, Travis (Marlene) Jones, Bradley Jones, Nicholas Ogle, Alexandra Jones; nine great grandchildren; a brother Giddie Jones, of Harrod, OH; a sister Rose Mary Jones, of Louisa, KY; a brother Paul (Barbara) Jones, of Bellvue, MI; a sister Erma (Clarence) Copley, of Crum, WV; a sister Kay (Luther) Wellman, of Louisa, KY; a sister-in-law Betty Jones, of Staffordsville, KY; many nephews & nieces.

He was preceded in death by: stepmother Anna Lee Jones and two brothers Robert Gene Jones, and Douglas Jones.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with Pastor David Elkins officiating. Interment will be in Cairo East Cemetery, Cairo, Ohio. Military graveside service will be conducted by the VFW Post 1275, Lima.
