COLUMBUS GROVE — Donald D. Lentz, 64 died at his home in Columbus Grove. He was born January 13, 1948, in Lima, the son of Jesse C Jr. and Philomena "Phil" (Brinkman) Lentz, who preceded him in death.
Don was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, after which he attended Defiance College, graduating with a bachelor's degree in education. The Philips Co., formerly of Ottawa employed him, after which, he returned to Defiance College, earning his masters degree in education, graduating with honors.
His career of teaching began at Paulding High School, Paulding, Ohio, where he taught Social Studies. His teaching became more specialized with his next jobs in the Wauseon Schools where he instructed students with social and emotional needs, and in Putnam County, working as a Service Coordinator at the Brookhill School near Ottawa, and the I. S. S. (Innovative Support Services), in Ottawa.
Other interests included gardening and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Stephanie (Ryan) Ricker, Columbus Grove, and Jessica (Nathan) Smith, Mt. Vernon, Ohio. A sister, Donna Bunsold, Columbus Grove, four grandchildren, Logan, Wyatt, Mckayla, and Morgan, and a very special friend, Misty Hemmingway.
He was preceded in death by brother-in-law, David Bunsold and his uncle and aunt, Leonard and Charlotte Heffner.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 6, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. All are welcome to attend a Service of Reflection, immediately following visitation. The service will begin at 8 PM Wednesday, at the funeral home.
