JANIE DAVIS

LIMA — Mrs. Janie Mae Davis went home to be with the Lord the morning of December 3, 2013 at the Fairview Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Toledo, Ohio. She was 94 years young.

Janie was born April 7, 1919 in Sheffield, Alabama to Mr. Thomas and Janie Mae Goodloe Brown, both parents preceded her in death.

She married Ernest Davis in 1957, who preceded her in death 1983. She had only one son Wardell Macklin Sr. who also preceded her in death 2007.

Janie was a member of Philippian Missionary Baptist Church since under the pastor-ship of Rev. J.E. Latson. She was a faithful member of the Lima Christian Singing Session and the Philippian Missionary Baptist Church Choir until her legs began failing her several years ago, which kept her from attending church. Did you know that Janie Mae Davis was a poet? Yes, some of you did, because she had written poems for family members and mostly younger folk in the church. Yes, most of you knew her for her quick wits and letting you know just what she thought. No, she had no problem with that at all! Some of us were fortunate to know the softer, kind, loving and giving side of her. Yes, we are talking about Mrs. Janie Mae Davis aka Grandma Janie!

Janie leaves to mourn, daughter-in-law; Kippy and six grandchildren; Wardell Macklin, Jr., Glen E. Macklin, Rose E. Snider (Paul), Charles M. Macklin (Annette), LaTasha Macklin and Matthew T. Macklin (Amanda); 12 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild; and a lifetime of close valued friends.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Paul Macklin.

Services will be held at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. B. Lamont Monford, Sr., officiating and Rev. Bruce Monford, eulogizing. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery.
