SPENCERVILLE — Jeff R. Hardesty, 54, died at 4:55 a.m. Jan. 1, 2014, at his residence following a six-month illness.

He was born Feb. 1, 1959, in Lima to Jack R. "Dick" and Margaret B. Collins Hardesty. His father survives in Spencerville. He married the love of his life, Cindy Strause, who survives in Spencerville.

Jeff was a 1977 graduate of Spencerville High School. He worked in the automotive industry, mainly with the Ziebart Co., having worked in Lima, Troy, Findlay, Columbus and Indianapolis. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Spencerville. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, music and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Survivors also include two children, of Troy; two grandchildren, of Troy; a sister, Marianne Hardesty, of Lima; a brother, Christopher C. (Janelle) Hardesty, of Spencerville; and two nieces, Morgan and Victoria Hardesty, of Spencerville.

Services will begin at at noon Saturday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville. The Rev. Justin M. Fuhrmann will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Spencerville Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the James Cancer Center at The Ohio State University, Columbus.
