COLUMBUS GROVE — Martha A. Fuerst, 98, died November 20, 2013, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
She was born November 4, 1915 in Kalida, Ohio to Anthony and Magdalena (Schroeder) Smith who preceded her in death.
On September 14, 1946, she married Arnold H. Fuerst, who died October 5, 1994.
Martha was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society, Columbus Grove. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a green thumb, and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. She enjoyed reading and loved to dance and playing cards.
Survivors include a son Gregory G. (Rebecca) Fuerst of Columbus Grove, five grandchildren: Jessica (Brian) Koch, Michael (Jessica) Fuerst, Bethany (Blake) Moore, Melanie (Wes) Clark and Kaitlyn (Brandon) Haman, nine great grandchildren; one brother: Tom Smith of Ft. Jennings; two sisters Norma Kurley of Shelby and Esther Halker of Columbus Grove and one sister in-law: Beatrice Smith of Delphos, Ohio.
Martha was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Brown and Florence Freeman; five brothers: Gilbert, Edward, Robert, Cyrillus and Lenard Smith.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday November 25, 2013 at St. Anthony Church, Columbus Grove. The Rev. Tom Extejt will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Columbus Grove.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2013, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, where a Scripture service will be held at 8:00p.m. on Sunday.
Memorial Contributions may be given to St. Anthony School Endowment Fund.
