LIMA — Mr. Rudolph Nathaniel "Buddy" Warthem, age 74 passed from this life on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at approximately 10:00 p.m. at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born on March 6, 1939 in Springfield, Ohio to the union of Ruben and Charlotte Johnson Warthem; both parents preceded him in death.
On July 7, 1973 he was united in holy matrimony to Cennie Brown who survives in Lima.
He retired from the City of Lima working in the Streets and Parks Department and he was a Veteran of the United States Marines. Mr. Warthem was an artist and he loved to draw, skate and shop thrift stores to collect antiques. He was a member of Bass Masters and loved to fish and he played many musical instruments.
Besides his loving wife Cennie, he leaves to cherish his precious memory, 7 sons; David Edwards (Londa Ellis), Garrick Warthem (Latricia), Christopher Warthem (Alicia) all of Lima. Darrin Buxton (Bridgett) of Columbus, OH. Brian Buxton (Tara) of Atlanta, GA. Rodney Warthem and Patrick Warthem both of Norfolk, VA. 3 daughters; Pamela Neal (Elder Larry) of Atlanta, GA., Janice Clay of Lima, OH and Debra Warthem of Norfolk, VA. 30 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. 2 brothers; David Rhinehart of Memphis, TN and Johnny Rhinehart of Lima, OH. 3 sisters: Ella Ward and Dorothea Harris both of Lima. Helen Rhinehart of Missouri. A godson; Jamal Gilgrease and a special daughter; Shonda Thomas. A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son; Cory Thomas, a grandson; Christopher Warthem and a brother; Albert Evans.
Services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at In Faith Ministries with Rev. Michael Lyons, officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 until time of services at the Church.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery
