WAPAKONETA — Thomas A. Smith, 90, of 307 Stinebaugh Drive in Wapakoneta, OH (formerly of St. Marys, OH) died 12:26 p.m. Wednesday March 19, 2014 in the emergency department of JTDM Hospital in St. Marys.

He was born March 6, 1924 in St. Marys, OH to Roy and Louise (Hartzog) Smith.

On February 6, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA he married Marian I. Sprague, who died June 24, 2013.

Survived by: son David (Teresa) Smith of Wapakoneta, OH daughter Luanne (John) Brown of Lincoln, NE 5 grandchildren: Christine (Mike) Enderud, Kendra Hunter, Carrie (Michael) Daniel, Scott (Linda) Brown, Katie Brown 7 great-grandchildren: Jessica Enderud, Bailey Enderud, Dylan Strauss, Emma Strauss, Ian Brown, Owen Brown, Evan Daniel brother Fred (Lucille) Smith of Fostoria, OH.

Preceded in death by: parents Roy and Louise Smith, wife Marian Smith, brother William (Shirley) Smith, sister Mona Lee (Bill) Williams.

1941 graduate of Buckland High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in a Marine attachment aboard the USS Philadelphia during World War II. He was retired from Midwest Electrical Co-operative,( a job he loved!), where he was outside line supervisor. He was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St. Marys and a 48-year member of St. Marys Kiwanis Club. He also was a member of the American Legion and VFW Posts, both in Spencerville, OH. His favorite pastimes included ballroom dancing, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren. The Christmas season was his favorite time of the year, and he took great care in selecting special gifts for those near and dear to him.

Services are scheduled to begin 11:00 a.m. Monday March 24, 2014 at Miller – Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys, with the Rev. David Woodyard, officiating.

Burial, with full graveside military honors, will follow at Spencerville Cemetery, in Spencerville, OH.

Visitation 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home on High Street.
