LIMA — Rosalia "Rosetta" LoBianco Cecala, 93, was called into the presence of the Lord 10:25 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at St. Rita's Medical Center.
Rosetta was born February 23, 1921 in Caccamo, Sicily, Italy to the late Giuseppe and Concetta (Guagenti) LoBianco. On October 29, 1949 she married the love of her life, Giuseppe "Joe" Cecala. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1990 after 41 years of marriage. Together, they immigrated to the United States in 1951.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who's greatest joy was family gatherings, and spending time with her grandchildren. Rosetta was proud of her heritage, was an avid gardener, and an exceptional cook.
Rosetta and Joe were blessed with three children, Joanne Cecala Lightbody, of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Connie A. (John E.) Stanovich, of Lima, and Philip D. (Crystal M.) Cecala, of Columbus; nine grandchildren, Zachary T. (Jennifer) Wilson, Laura B. Lightbody, Justin J. Stanovich, Anthony J. Stanovich, John D. Stanovich, Anthony M. (Rachel) DePalma, Steven V. (Maegan) DePalma, Elizabeth C. Cecala, and Alexa M. Cecala; 4 great grandchildren, Ella, Kaitlyn, Layla, and Michael. Other survivors include, sister, Enzina LoBianco Mecca, of Boca Raton, FL; three sisters-in-law, Marie LoBianco, Christine LoBianco, and Marie LoBianco.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Guillermo, Giuseppe, George, and Frank LoBianco; and a sister, Lena LoBianco Tomasello.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at St. John's Catholic Church. Father David Ross will officiate. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014 at CHILES - LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, and from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm Monday at the funeral home, prior to leaving for the mass.
