LIMA — Betty Kathleen Ribley, 87, was called into the presence of the Lord 11:05 am Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Burton's Ridge Assisted Living.

Betty was born November 25, 1926 in Lima, to the late Donald Robert and Audrey Marie (Steinecker) Maxwell. On June 20, 1948 she married the love of her life, Ralph Vernon Ribley Sr., who preceded her in death on February 28, 1976.

Mrs. Ribley was a 1945 graduate of Lima South High School. She graduated from the St. Rita's School of Nursing in 1948. After graduating nursing school she worked at St. Rita's Medical Center and retired from Metokote. Betty was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society, and the St. John Choir. Other memberships include Eagles Aeries #370 Auxiliary, American Legion Post #96 Auxiliary, Lima VFW #1275 Auxiliary, Lima Elks #370, Lima Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #199, and the St. Rita's Lady Auxiliary. Betty loved to dance, travel, and play KENO. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Betty and Ralph were blessed with three children, Raela J. (Bill) Reed, Ralph V. (Peggy) Ribley Jr., and Neil D. (Barbara) Ribley, all of Lima; nine grandchildren, Kevin Reed, Michael Ribley, Ralph V. (Jennifer) Ribley III, Diana Marie Bardo, Craig J. (Jill) Ribley, Travis J. Ribley, Dennis E. Reed, Tammy S. Battle, Beth Ann (Tod) James; 14 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Other survivors include, brother-in-law, Richard (Mary Ellen) Ribley; and four sisters-in-law, Betty Jean Russell, Mary Maxwell, Jean Maxwell, and Eileen Maxwell.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Donna J. (Al) Bidwell; and four brothers, Donald R. "Bob" Maxwell, Ted E. Maxwell, Jimmie L. Maxwell, and Neal R. "Dickie" Maxwell.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin 11:00 am Monday, June 2, 2014 at St. John Catholic Church. Father David Ross will officiate. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm Sunday, June 1, 2014 at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. A parish wake will be held at 7:30 pm.
