DELPHOS — Arthur "Art" J. Williams, 85, of Delphos, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 23, 2014 at St. Rita's Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

His Family…. He was born November 25, 1928 in Delphos to Roman J. and Florence (Hittle) Williams. On August 15, 1948 he married Alice (Bohn) Williams, who preceded him in death on December 19, 2013. They had been married for 65 years.

Art is survived by his daughter, Rebecca "Becky" (Mick) Strayer and a son, Thomas Williams, both of Delphos; five grandchildren, Shane (Amy Urton) Lear, Shannon (Ann Kohorst) Strayer, Kelly Williams, Jaime (Don) Brinkman and Sarah (Josh) Grogg;

five great-grandchildren, Desteni Lear, Dylan Brinkman, MJ Finkhousen, Paige Scott and Kya Grogg; a sister-in-law, Carol Cunningham of Delphos.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Williams; brother, Carl Williams; infant sister, Susan Williams; and a sister and her husband, Ruth and Don Wolverton; brother-in-law and his wife, Ralph and Leannah Bohn and his brother-in-law, Don Cunningham.

His Legacy…. Art worked and retired from Continental Can in Van Wert after 46 years of service. He owned and operated Roman J. Williams and Son Refrigeration. Art and Alice were previous owners of The Dairy Hut. He volunteered at the Interfaith Thrift Shop and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Some of his accomplishments were at 70 years old he earned is GED and was honorary speaker at his 1997 graduation and also in 2008 was awarded his honorary black belt in Karate. His hobby was his cats, his love was his family.

His Farewell Services.… A celebration of Art's life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Pastors Rich Rakay and David Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Strayer Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
