BENJAMIN STORER
LIMA — Benjamin Franklin Storer, M.D., 97, died at 6:04 a.m. August 15, 2016, at Lima Memorial Health Systems Hospice.
He was born December 12, 1918 in Cleveland to the late Claude and Lucille (Payne) Storer. On September 2, 1950, he married Roberta Kyar who died August 11, 2016.
Storer was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lima. He graduated from Cleveland East Tech High School in 1935, Ohio State University in 1939 and Marquette School of Medicine in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1950. He retired as prison psychiatrist from Allen Correctional Institution in 1990. He enjoyed playing Bridge, flying his Cessna 150, gardening, building homes and entertaining family and friends at his home.
He is survived by five children, Andrew (Elvia), of Baker City, Oregon; Stanley, of Lima; Gerald (Laura) of Lima; Ben Jr., of Lima and Judy of Des Moines, Iowa. He has eight grandchildren, Andy (Connie) of Portland, Oregon, Mary (Heath) Kornblum, of San Francisco, CA, Matthew (Sarah) of Portland, Oregon, Sarah, of Portland, Oregon, Charity, of Portland, Oregon, Holly, of Chicago, IL, Angela (Pat) Dove, of Lima, Stephen (Tiffeny) of Lima; and nine great-grandchildren, Andrew, Wendy, Alex, Katy, Chloe, Kimberly, Nicholas, Jason and Zaiden.
He was preceded in death by his sister Muriel Storer Bates.
A service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, September 9, at Riverside Cemetery Chapel or St. John's Episcopal Church, in Cleveland with the Rev. Daniel Budd officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, September 10, at Riverside Cemetery, Cleveland.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Friday, September 9 until time of services at Riverside Cemetery Chapel or St. John's Episcopal Church, Cleveland.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Condolences may be expressed at allohiocremation.com.
