BELLE CENTER — Charles Theodore Sorgen, age 77 of Belle Center, Ohio passed away at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at his home. He was born January 9, 1936 the son of the late John U. and Edith (Dixon) Sorgen. On December 21, 1956, he married Ruby Rayl and she survives.
He is survived by his son Doug (Nancy) Sorgen of Kenton, Ohio and daughter Jessica (Harvey) Osborn of LaRue, Ohio; a granddaughter Clarissa (Tom) Coker of Palm City, Florida; and great-granddaughters Ava and Elise Coker.
He is preceded in death by his grandson Sean M. Tyler; brother Marion Sorgen; half brothers Roy Sorgen and Williard Flowers; and half sisters Bessie Johnson and Mabel Parr.
Charles graduated from McGuffey High School in 1955. He served in the Ohio Army National Guard retiring after 29 years and retired after 34 years of working in maintenance at Durez Corp. in Kenton.
Charles was a life member of the NRA; Kenton AMVETS Post 1994; National Trappers Assoc.; and Ohio Trappers Assoc. He was a member of the Single Action Shooters society, the Rushcreek Sportsman Club, the Kenton Moose Family Center #428; and the Flat Branch Church of Christ where he was a Trustee.
He was a former member of H.O.G. and A.M.A.
Funeral services for Charles Theodore Sorgen will be held Monday, December 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME with Minister Mark Foor officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview McDonald Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 2 - 8 p.m. at the Funeral home.
