RUBY HOOKER
COLUMBUS GROVE — Ruby A Hooker, 87, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, 12:25 a. m., at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
She was born October 12, 1926, to George W. and Mary Matilda (Freburger) Altenburger, in Spencerville, Ohio. On August 16, 1947, she married Bud D. Hooker, who died February 17, 1982.
She worked at the Westinghouse Company, formerly in Lima, the Sylvania Company, formerly in Ottawa, and retired from Putnam Acres, Ottawa, Ohio. Ruby was a member of the St. Anthony Church, Columbus Grove, as well as the C. L. C., and the Alter Rosary Society. Memberships included the American Legion Post 516 Auxiliary and the Senior Citizens both in Columbus Grove, and the F. O. E. Aerie #370 Auxiliary, the Women of the Moose Chapter #52, and the V. F. W. Post #1275, all of Lima.
Hobbies and interests included dancing, camping, playing cards, watching OSU football, being an avid fan of the Lima Encore Theater, and she loved to travel. Ruby was a family person, especially when it involved her grandchildren.
Surviving family members include two daughters, June A. (Jeffery) Boham, Lima, and Cathy J. (John) Morris, Columbus Grove. Grandchildren, Nicole (Trevis) Manns, Lima, Shalaina (Kevin) Leopold, Ottawa, Trent Boham, Dublin, Felicia Boham, Lima, and Daylene (Patrick) Schutte, Marion, Indiana, and a great grandson, Jacob Leopold. Her brother, Walter (Sandy) Altenburger, Lima, and two sisters, Dorothy Keko, Detroit, MI, and Vera (Robert) Tenwalde, Ottawa, also survive.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ralph and Raymond Altenburger, and three sisters, Martha Lusk, Lucille Neumeier, and Mary Altenburger.
There will be a Rosary Service, by the Alter Rosary Society of St. Anthony Church, at 8 p. m. Tuesday evening. Visitation at HARTMAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, Columbus Grove, will be held Monday evening 5 until 8 p. m., Tuesday, 1 until 4 and 6 until 8 p. m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, at St. Anthony Church, Columbus Grove, at 10 a. m. Reverend Tom Extejt will officiate. The burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Columbus Grove.
