Marion Carson Hughes(1946 - 2018)

Marion Carson Hughes, 71, of Troy, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 28, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Dec. 15, 1946 in Princeton , KY to William and Sidney (Kingston) Hughes. Marion enlisted in the U.S. Army from Nov. 28, 1967 and was honorably discharged November 13, 1969. He and Rhonda ( Barnes) were married on Oct. 12, 1974 in East St. Louis, IL at Morningstar Baptist Church. To this union was born one son Carson.
Marion was a hard working laborer at General Motors for 30 years. Marion loved spending time with his family , especially the grandchildren. He was an outdoors person and loved hunting and fishing. His pride and joy was his 69 Super Bee, Marion really enjoyed working on muscle cars.
He is survived by his beloved wife Rhonda Hughes of Troy; one son Carson Hughes of Troy, Michele Hughes; three grandchildren Carson Hughes Jr., Jordyn Hughes, Danielle Marie (Ryan Reuther); one great-grandchild: Maverick Reuther; one brother Terry (Barbara) Hughes of Bowling Green, KY; sister-in-law Robin Hughes of Kentucky; four sisters-in-law Deborah (Richard) Vest of Granite City, Ill., Cecilia McKinney of Belleville, Ill., Penny (Richard) Wilson of Granite City , Ill., Tamara (Greg) Wofford of Collinsville, Ill.., two brothers -in-law: Cecil Barnes of Granite City, Ill. , Timothy Barnes of Granite City , Ill. and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: David Hughes.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful friendship that Gene Jet and Harry Tinsley provided to Marion and his family.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 4 - 8 p.m. at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Crematory 1304 Boone Street Troy.
Funeral Service was held Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018 at 10 a.m. at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory 1304 Boone Street Troy. Pastor Dave Denton officiated. Interment was in the Sunset Hills Cemetery Glen Carbon, Ill.
