Charles Ross Austermann Obituary
Charles Ross Austermann, 79, of Troy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018 at Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia.
He was born on Sept. 19, 1938 in Napoleon, MO. He was the son of the late Milford and Louise (Breuer) Austermann.
Charles graduated from Fort Osage High School. He entered the United States Navy on Oct. 6, 1958 and was honorably discharged on Oct. 5, 1962. Over the years he worked for various engineering firms in Missouri, he retired from the Corps of Engineers in the quality control division. Charles liked reading, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Charles enjoyed traveling especially to Europe, Scotland, Germany, Japan and Philippines. The military and his family was his life.
He is survived by his two sons and two daughters: Chris B. Austermann (Roderick Walton) of Chicago, Ill., Scott A. Austermann (Nellie) of Troy, MO, Gwen E. Griemel (Jason) of Bourbon, and Shandra D. Austermann of Rapid City, S.D.; one brother and one sister Gary T. Austerman (Marina) of Napoleon, and Peg Cox (Dale) Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandchildren Jennifer M. Austermann and Ethan J. Grimel; nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 at Kemper-Millard-Keim Family Funeral Chapel, located at 351 Monroe Street Troy, MO 63379. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 at the Troy Chapel.
