John D. "Jack" Blanford Obituary
John "Jack" D. Blanford, 78, of Moscow Mills, MO, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at his residence.
He was born in Kaskaskia, ll. to Vince and Ilene (Able) Blanford on March 9, 1940. Jack grew up in St. Genevieve with his four siblings Ricky, Becky, Betty and Barbara. After his formal schooling, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two terms 1957-1960 and then 1960-1963. It was during the 1960's that he met his sweetheart, Shirley Bufford. The rest is history. After serving his country, the couple moved from the state of California to Winfield. They were blessed with three children: Michael, Sandra and Stephanie.
Jack joined the Carpenter's Union Local No. 412 in Wentzville. He received his 50-year pin in 2018 of which he was very proud. Some of his favorite pastimes included watching the St. Louis Cardinals and doing woodworking. His family was of the utmost importance to him and he cherished each and everyone of them.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Shirley Blanford of Moscow Mills; his son, Michael Blanford of Ft. Worth, Texas, and his daughter, Stephanie Alexander of Chicago, Ill. He is further survived by his five adoring grandchildren DeCanter Hilton, Natosha Hilton, Cory Jones, Kayla Blanford, Alissa Blanford; his three great-grandchildren Abbi Hilton, Mason Huffman, Kaden Huffman; his four siblings Ricky (Marlita) Blanford, Becky Boyd, Betty (Bill) Dette, Barbara Sleet; his sister-in-law, Susan (Darryl) Day; his three brother-in-laws Jim Bufford, Wayne (Linda) Bufford and Odell (Janet) Bufford; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Sandra Skinner.
