Kohl, Eileen - Springfield  
Eileen Kohl 1917 - 2016 SPRINGFIELD, IL - Eileen Kohl, 99, of Springfield, Ill., passed away at 10:28 p.m. on April 29, 2016, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village of Springfield, Ill. Eileen was born Feb. 9, 1917, in rural Emden, Ill., the daughter of Frederick and Emma Struebing Cross. She married Hubert Lloyd Kohl on June 5, 1938; he preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1992. As a young child, Eileen lived in the Hartsburg area. Her family moved to New Holland in 1929. She graduated from New Holland High School in 1934 and Illinois State Normal University in 1936. She taught at Briggs School, a one-room schoolhouse, in rural New Holland. Following her marriage, she and Hubert farmed in rural New Holland. They raised three children. After the death of her husband, she moved to Lincoln in 1995 and then to Springfield in 2012. She was a former member and treasurer of Illinois State Mothers of America, Country Home Bureau, member of Zion Lutheran Church of New Holland, Concordia Society and L.W.M.L., and life member of the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she was a former board member and secretary. Eileen is survived by her three children: Perry (Emily) Kohl of Lincoln, Ill., Barry Kohl of Nauvoo, and Sally (Ron) Correll of Springfield, Ill.; one sister, Donna Cross Conklen of Springfield, Ill.; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services for Eileen will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church in New Holland, Ill., with the Rev. Charles Olander officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, Ill. Burial at Richmond Grove Cemetery will follow the service. Memorials may be given in Eileen's name to: Zion Lutheran Church in New Holland.

Robinson, John W. - Olympia Fields  
John W. Robinson 1934 - 2016 John W. Robinson, 81, passed away April 22, 2016 at his residence at Brookdale Senior Living in Olympia Fields, IL. There will be a mass followed by a celebration of John's life on Sunday, May 29th at Brookdale, 3633 Breakers Drive, Olympia Fields. Mass will start at 12:30pm. There will be pie and coffee served during the celebration. John was born on December 1, 1934, the son of Roy and Madeline Robinson. John married Linda Lou (Lohrenz) on May 6, 1961. John was a Koren War veteran. He graduated from Lincoln College and received his Bachelor degree from the University of Illinois. John worked as a State of Illinois employee for the Department of Employment Security as an unemployment referee for thirty years. He retired in 1991. Surviving John are his son Michael (Cynthia) of Frankfort, IL and his daughter Cynthia Robinson-Seefeldt (Jeff) of Highlands Ranch, CO. Four grandchildren, Justin Robinson(Leoconie), Nicole Schaefer (Brett), Ryan and Sarah Oro. Four great-grandchildren, Abigail and Emma Schaefer, Layla and Hunter Robinson. Numerous nieces and nephews. John was proceeded in death by his wife Linda (Lohrenz), parents Roy and Madeline Robinson, brother Francis Robinson and sister Patricia Robinson. John spent the last nine months of his life living at Brookdale in Olympia Fields, IL, where he became a popular resident and made many friends. He spent his last few months visiting and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John truly led a full and complete life. Sizemore, Brandon Ray - Mt. Pulaski  
Brandon Ray Sizemore 1992 - 2016 MT. PULASKI, IL - Brandon Ray Sizemore, 23, of Mt. Pulaski, passed away on April 27, 2016 in Mt. Pulaski, IL. Brandon was born on June 29, 1992 in Lincoln, IL the son of Kevin and Diane (Romer) Sizemore. Brandon is survived by his parents; his daughters, Kadelyn and Marissa; his fiancé, Laura N. Clark; his brother, Cory Sizemore; and his nephew, Gabe Sizemore. Brandon loved riding motorcycles, he also enjoyed playing pool. Above all else, Brandon loved his family. He will be dearly missed by anyone fortunate enough to have known him. A Graveside Service for Brandon will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Steenbergen Cemetery, Mt. Pulaski. with Mark Weber officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mt. Pulaski. Memorial donations may be made in Brandon's name to the education fund for Kadelyn and Marissa Sizemore.

Tubbs, Jean - Lincoln  
Jean Tubbs 1928 - 2016 LINCOLN-Jean Tubbs, 87, of Lincoln passed away at 1:10 p.m. April 25, 2016 at her home with her loving family by her side. Jean was born May 24, 1928 in East Haven, CT the daughter of George Albert and Elizabeth Bradley Monroe. She married Robert Tubbs December 18, 1948 in Plattsburg, NY. He survives in Lincoln. Also surviving Jean, are her three sons: Richard (Shari Piekarski) Tubbs of Coralville, IA; Mark (Aren Ginsberg) Tubbs of St. Louis, MO; William (Jennifer Johnson) Tubbs of Springfield; one sister: Dorothy Wind of Englewood, FL; one granddaughter: Audrey Ling Tubbs and four nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents. Jean was a teacher at Lincoln Elementary Schools for 20 years; she was a member of the United Methodist Church Women's Club; and the Illinois Teacher's Organization, Elk 's Club, and JW PEO Sisterhood. She loved reading, bridge, and golf. Private family services will be held at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in Jean's name to St. Jude's Children's Research or Logan County Special Olympics, or donor's choice.

Linda J. Bell 1946 - 2016 ATLANTA - Linda J. Bell, 69, of Atlanta, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016, at 6:20 p.m., surrounded by her loved ones, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Quiram Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the funeral home. Pastor Clarence Mankin will officiate. Cremation Rites will be accorded. Burial will be in the Atlanta Cemetery at a later date. Linda Jean Bell was born September 16, 1946, in Lincoln, the daughter of Russell F. and Edna E. Winkel Noble. She married Gideon Patrick Bell on October 29, 1983. He survives. Linda is survived by her husband, Pat; children: Cindy (Mark) Leesman of Atlanta, Chris Jackson of Atlanta, and Christine (Joe) Delahunt of Atlanta; one brother: Ernie Brown of Lincoln; and five grandchildren: Jessica Bihl, Dustin Leesman, and Tyler, Riley, and Payton Delahunt. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister: Dianne Provance. Linda had worked in the ASCS government offices in Lincoln and Bloomington. Following her retirement, Linda volunteered at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lincoln and the American Legion Auxiliary. Memorials may be made to Atlanta Rescue Squad, American Cancer Society or the Atlanta Fire Department. Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.

Boward, Henrietta - Middletown  
Henrietta Boward 1930 - 2016 MIDDLETOWN- Henrietta Boward ,86, passed away at 7:18 P.M. on April 26, 2016 at her home in Middletown. Henrietta was born on January 16, 1930 in rural Petersburg, IL; daughter of Henry M. and Etta Fastenau Kruse. She married Kenneth J. Boward in January of 1951, he preceded her in death on July 4, 1992. Surviving Henrietta are her two sons: David (Gay) Boward of Lincoln, IL and Glenn (Karen) Boward of Weslaco, TX; two brothers: Martin Kruse of OH and Jerry (Bonnie) Kruse of Bainbridge, IN; one sister: Martha (Robert) Whiteman of Middletown; three grandchildren: Kara (Jess) Burge of Middletown, IL; Benjamin (Megan) Boward of Frisco, TX; Dathan Boward of San Antonio, TX; three great-grandchildren: Erik Burge, Isabella Boward, and William Boward. She was preceded in death by her parents. Henrietta was a member of the Middletown Presbyterian Church, Home Extension, Book Club, and the Middletown Ladies Coffee Club. She was the first in her immediate family to go to college and taught fourth grade for 42 years at the Middletown Grade School. She loved to talk about her grandchildren and especially her great-grandchildren. She loved reading, tending her flower gardens, and watching the "well fed" birds from her kitchen window. Services for Henrietta will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday May 3, 2016 at Middletown Presbyterian Church with Rev. Joshua Gorrie officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Monday May 2, 2016 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader funeral Home in Lincoln, IL. Burial at Irish Grove Cemetery will follow the service with Deacon Steve Whiteman officiating graveside. Memorials may be given in Henrietta's name to the Middletown Presbyterian Church or Middletown rescue Squad.

Buse, Myron - Lincoln  
Myron Buse 1938 - 2016 LINCOLN- Myron Buse ,77, passed away at 12:03 P.M. on April 26, 2016 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, IL with his brother by his side. Myron was born on October 13, 1938 in Lincoln, IL; son of Harold and Norma Blaum Buse. Surviving Myron is his son Robert L. (Lisa Leasher) Buse of Panama City, FL; one brother: Randy (Donna) Buse of Lincoln, IL; two granddaughters: Echo Buse and Delana Buse; three great grandchildren: Madison, Ronnie, and Mariah Mote; two nieces: Donalene (Jim) DeWitt and Rhonda Buse; two great nephews: Riley DeWitt and Sutton Buse. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Darnell and a special uncle A.B. Blaum. Myron worked at Lehn & Fink, Stark and Wetzel, Row Motors for 29 years, and maintenance at Lincoln College where he worked until the day he got sick and had to give it up. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lincoln Eagle's Lodge, Chestnut Men's Club, and Beason Sportsman's Club. Myron enjoyed collecting Marx toy trains and has a large collection, NASCAR fan, he was a great Rock N Roll fan, ask him the name of a song and he would tell you the group and all the words to the song, and he loved his 1967 red Chevy. Myron was known by many as he never met a stranger. Many knew him by "Myron on his bicycle." He rode that bike everywhere for 20 years, and was proud of it. He will be dearly missed by not only his family but by everyone that knew him. He truly loved his grandchildren, nieces and great nephews. Services for Myron will be 10:00 A.M. Monday May 2, 2016 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Henderson officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00P.M. Sunday May 1, 2016 also at the funeral home in Lincoln, IL. Memorials may be made to Lincoln College or The Christian Village, where he enjoyed his stay. Thanks to all at The Christian Village for their care. Burial will be at Richmond Grove Cemetery in New Holland, IL at a later date.

Geraldine Mae (Temple) Christy 1927 - 2016 MASON CITY, IL - Geraldine Mae (Temple) Christy, 88, of Mason City, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born December 6, 1927 the daughter of Ralph and Jessie (Robertson) Temple in Hopedale, Illinois. She married James E. Christy on October 17, 1948 in Havana, Illinois. He preceded her in death. She is survived by three children: Patricia May Fore of Springfield, Illinois, Randell James Christy of Aurora, Illinois and Cathy Jean (William) Ey of Alba, Texas. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one sister; Shirley Helmig of Pekin, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister; Katherine Breit and two brothers; Harold and Harry Temple. Gerry was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Mason City. She was a member of the Dorcas and Lydia Society, Happy Home Extension Club, she also enjoyed sewing and quilting and was on the bowling league out of Lincoln, Illinois. She also taught Bible study classes for many years. She retired from Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. She also helped her husband farm for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Mason City. Visitation will be two hour prior to the service starting at 11:00 a.m. also at the church. Pastor John Johnson will officiate. Burial will take place at the Mason City Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Little Lambs of Christ School. Online memorial messages can be left for the family at www.hurleyfh.com . Cross, Glenn Eldon - Emden  
Glenn Eldon Cross 1926 - 2016 EMDEN, IL - Glenn Eldon Cross, 89, passed away at 1:40 P.M. on April 26, 2016 at Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln, IL. Glenn was born on August 19, 1926 in Lincoln, IL; son of John C. and Marie Kasebier Cross. He was united in marriage to Betty Ann Whittaker on June 27, 1948 in Emden, IL. She preceded him in death on November 10, 2015. Surviving Glenn are his sons: John L. (Jayne) Cross of Emden, IL and Joel (Kathy) Cross of New Berlin, IL; five grandchildren: Janna (Brett) Conrady, Jaci (Shaun) Manning, Jillyn Cross, JoAnn Cross, and Jason Cross; great grandchildren: Ryder and Brantley Conrady and Carson and Cruz Manning. He was preceded in death by one brother James Russell Cross. Glenn was a retired farmer, and owned and operated Glenn Cross Feed Store. He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Brotherhood of the church, and a member of Emden Park district for 32 years. He was also a member of the Logan County Farm Bureau. Services for Glenn will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday May 2, 2016 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Emden, IL with Rev. John Schurter and Ryan Edgecombe officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 A.M. (hour and a half prior to service). Burial at Hartsburg Union Cemetery will follow the service. Memorials may be given in Glenn's name to St. Peter Lutheran Church or Emden Historical Society. Matson, John "Jack" - Lincoln  
John "Jack" Matson 1931 - 2016 LINCOLN, IL - John "Jack" William Matson, 84, of Lincoln, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 1:22 P.M. at St. Clara's Manor, Lincoln, IL. John was born June 11, 1931 in Lincoln, the son of Reginald and Emma Wilson Matson. He was united in marriage to Thelma Wiggers on November 22, 1953 at the First United Methodist Church in Lincoln. She preceded him in death on November 28, 2010 after 57 years of marriage. John is survived by his three sons; Rodney (Tammy), Randy (Ann), Roger (Julie); his three daughters, Valerie Huffman (Jimmy Wright), Pam (Rex) Mallekoote of of Lincoln, IL, and Beckie (Mike) Geskey of Metamora, IL; he was also blessed with 14 grandchildren; Lauren Matson, Hayden Matson, Abby McCarty, Chris Matson, Aaron Matson, Tyler Matson, Brandy White, Brook Krider, Tiffany Fulmer, Craig Geskey, Gretchen Bree, Tim Mallekoote, Brittney Redding and Scott Mallekoote; he is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren, as well as his brother, Robert "Bob" (Ruth) Matson; his sister, Betty Poston, and two sisters-in-law Katharina Goldhammer and Darlene Singley; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma; his parents, his brothers, Leo Dean, Reginald Jr., and James. As well as his mentor and friend Ellsworth "Brownie" Brown. John was a member of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He returned to the states and worked alongside his father as a plasterer. He worked at Lehn and Fink for 38 years. He also was employed at Glenn Pontiac. He was a Boy Scout Leader in his spare time. John loved his family. His greatest joy was attending events that his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were involved with. He enjoyed camping with his friends and their families. He and Thelma traveled many places with their children. They enjoyed the many bus trips they took, with Branson being their favorite. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church, Boy Scouts of America, VFW, and American Legion Post #263. Services for John will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 29, 2016 at The First United Methodist Church in Lincoln, IL. with Pastor Tami Werschey-Kessinger officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. Burial will be held at Hartsburg Union Cemetery, immediately following the service, where full military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #263. Memorial donations may be made in John's name to the Memorial Home Hospice or American Legion Post #263. The family would like to thank friends and family for visits and prayers. Also the staff of ALMH and St, Clara's Manor as well as Dr. Laya and Dr. Harmon for the love and care for John during these last months.
