Dolores A. Ford

ATLANTA, IL - Dolores A. Ford, 73, of Atlanta, passed away March 28, 2014, at the Myerling Home in Bloomington.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 31, 2014, at College Park Christian Church. The Rev. Brent Salm officiated. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois or to the .

Dolores was born March 17, 1941, in Decatur, Ill., to Minnie and Elmer Gehlbach. After graduating from Illinois State University, she dedicated over 30 years of her professional life as a teacher/educator to special needs individuals at the Lincoln Developmental Center.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, James Ford; sister, Patricia Burris; and brother, Elmer Gehlbach, Jr.

She is survived by her sister, Jean Perring of Clinton; daughter, Jolene Ford Clifford of Bloomington; son, Kyle Ford of Safety Harbor, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Until just recently, Dolores was able enjoy the comfort and benefits of living in her own home due to the love, support and generosity of her family, great neighbors and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Myerling Home in Bloomington, Advocate Hospice and Dr. P. Sriratana.
