Calvin Franklin McCabe
LINCOLN, IL - Calvin Franklin McCabe, 95, died at 9:45 a.m. on July 2, 2013, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Calvin was born Aug. 25, 1917, in Lincoln, Ill., the son of Finess and Frieda Bourchardt McCabe. He married Florence Kathryn Marsh on June 1, 1940, in Lincoln, Ill. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2005.
Calvin is survived by one son, Rick (Brenda) McCabe of Lincoln; one grandson, Michael (Sarah) McCabe of Effingham, Ill.; two great-grandsons, Jordan and Zachary McCabe; and one great-granddaughter, Jordan Shaffer. He was the last of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Bureal McCabe.
Calvin retired in 1979 after 23 years at the Lincoln Pittsburg Plate Glass Industries in the shipping department. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was a member of the American Legion Post #263, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1756, American Flint Glass Workers Local #1015, Alderman for City of Lincoln for eight years, very active in Cub Scouts and coached Little League Baseball for five years.
Services for Calvin will be Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln with Rev. Tom Kamprath officiating.
Burial will be in Zion Cemetery with full military rites accorded by American Legion Post #263 of Lincoln. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Humane Society of Logan County.
