Eugenia LYNCH Obituary

Eugenia

Rae Lynch

MT. PULASKI - Eugenia Rae Lynch of Mt. Pulaski left her earthly home on Friday, September 21, 2012 from St. John's Hospice, Springfield.

Born Eugenia Rae Martin on January 22, 1926 in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of Flora Inez Martin and stepfather Ben H. Klockenga of Hartsburg. She married I. Ray Lynch of Lincoln on September 17, 1949.

Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by her parents and husband, who departed on July 9, 1990. She is survived by her children, Steven (Camille) Lynch of Naperville, Floann (Tom) Younker of Dawson, Mari Lynch of Monterey, CA, and Emil (Elizabeth) Lynch of New Berlin; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Eugenia, "Genie" to Logan County friends, was a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout leader, and 4H leader. She was owner and teacher at the Putter and Clutter Shoppe in Mt. Pulaski, an antique and craft shop, and taught crafts there as well as in Clinton, Lincoln, and Springfield. After closing her shop, she was employed at the Illinois Department of Rehabilitation and as an interpreter at the Old State Capitol. After retiring from the State of IL, she escorted tours to Kenya, Morocco, and the Caribbean.

Mrs. Lynch created a one woman show depicting women of the Bible and performed it throughout the Midwest. She also starred as Vera Charles in the Johnson Center production of "Mame" at Lincoln College, appeared in numerous performances at the Theater Center in Springfield, and was a member of the "Mature Mob," a theater group of senior performers at UIS.

A pictorial and television model, she appeared in TV commercials and national print ads.

A freelance writer, she wrote for area newspapers and other periodicals. Her writing talents are best remembered for her interviews of Carl Sandburg and others. Her poetry was published in periodicals, a chapbook, and in Mosaics: Exploring Facets of the Human Experience.

A celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date. In accordance with her wishes, no funeral services will be held. Her remains will be cremated by Lincoln Land Cremation Society and buried, in a private service, at the head of her husband's grave in Mt. Pulaski Cemetery. Family and friends are encouraged to relax and reminisce on the Lynch family bench there.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran School, 203 South Vine St., Mt. Pulaski, IL 62548.
