BEASON, IL - Nicholas "Nick" Shane Cale, 22, passed away at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln, at 4:36 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2014. Nicholas was born on November 11, 1991, in Springfield, Ill., the son of Brian T. and Kelly R. Overbey Cale; they survive him in Lincoln.
Nick loved farming, ATV riding, motorcycling, and being outdoors. He graduated from Lincoln Community High School and Lincoln Land Community College with an associate's degree in Agronomy/Fertilizer. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Also surviving are maternal grandparents, Guy and Pam Overbey of Lincoln; paternal grandfather, Timothy Frees of Hudson, Fla.; great- grandmother, Ruth Markwood of Lincoln; and brother, Josh Cale of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary C. Cale.
Cremation rites will be accorded for Nick. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln with Father Jeffrey Liable officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, January 29, 2014, also at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be given to Logan County Animal Rescue or The Nick Cale Fund.
