PETERSBURG, IL - Everett Cade, 82, went to be with his Savior Thursday, May 1, 2014, at 4 p.m. He was born Jan. 14, 1932, the son of Thomas R. and Alice B. (Puff) Cade in Bradford, Ill. He married Carlene Swearingen in Clarksville, Mo., on Jan. 27, 1951.
Everett is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carlene; daughter, Nancy (Tony) Robbins of Lincoln; sons, Everett (Sara) Cade, Jr., of Petersburg and Tom (Jackie) Cade of Broadwell and daughter, Chery (Gragg) Stacy of Petersburg. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, six brothers, a son, Bill Dean Cade, a son-in-law, Karlyn Shields and a grandson, Timothy James Robbins.
Everett worked as a farmhand and then as a tree trimmer for Wright Tree Service, where he moved his family from Missouri to Minnesota and then to Iowa. He eventually moved to Canton, Ill., and began to work for CIPS on a tree crew and later transferred to Petersburg in 1960 to work on the line crew. He retired as a lineman foreman for CIPS in 1992 after 36 years.
Everett enjoyed woodworking and building things. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed gardening. Everett enjoyed helping others and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Petersburg where he assisted with many projects.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Petersburg. Visitation will be one hour prior. Memorial contributions may be made to the
