Mrs. Lena L. "Lee" Silano

1918 - 2011

LITCHFIELD -- Lena "Lee" (Nigrelli) Silano of Litchfield entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 15th, 2011 surrounded by all her loving children. Lee was born on September 26, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (D'Antona) Nigrelli.
Lee was predeceased by her husband John C. Silano, her brother Michael Nigrelli and her granddaughter Leanna Cestaro. A devoted wife and mother, she is survived by her four children Regina Cestaro and her husband, Arthur, of Bridgewater, New Hampshire; John M. Silano and his partner, Paula Dante, of Torrington; Dolores Silano of North Truro, Massachusetts; and Claudia Fuessenich and her husband, Dan, of Litchfield. "Gramma Lee" also leaves her 8 grandchildren, Arthur Cestaro; Gina Cestaro; John Silano; Benjamin Silano; Katherine Campinella and her husband, Brian; Jill Silano and her fiancée, Michael Cedrone; Tara Silano, and Charles Silano; and three great grandchildren, Derek Tomlin, Benjamin Silano, and Addison Silano.
Lee's professional accomplishments and interest were in retail management. She was also a past president of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church woman's club, and was a delegate to the state nominating committee to elect John F. Kennedy President. She also enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling.
For the many that loved and knew her as a mentor, true lady, friend and confidant, she will be truly missed. As a mother her unconditional love, courage and positive spirit will never be forgotten.
Throughout her life Lee shared her love for Lourdes of Litchfield with her children, grandchildren and friends. A memorial in her memory has been established at the Lourdes.
