I'm so sad to hear about Father Ed's passing. I was a classmate of his at Sacred Heart Seminary High School from 1963-1966. Later, we were neighbors in Ann Arbor when he was at St. Thomas parish. He was such a kind man and I always admired his dedication to the priesthood and to his parishioners. It was truly an honor to have known him.

I had the pleasure of helping care for Ed on several occasions while he was a patient with us at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. Ed was a good listener and offered some good advice even while not at his best health wise. I have Ed to thank for reminding me to reach out to a family member I had not connected with in a very long time. Thank you Ed. God Bless You!

Father Ed ... you are the reason I re-discovered my Catholic faith. You baptized my youngest son and confirmed both of my boys. I followed you from St. John's to St. Joe's, as did many others, because you made church the special place it was for me -- a positive and welcoming place. I don't think you ever knew the huge impact you had on so many people. You are loved. Rest in peace.

You will be missed by all of us. You presided over Natalie's and Zachary's baptisms, First Holy Communion, and Rite of Reconciliation. We followed you from St. John's to St. Joe's. Jim and I will always remember you driving around town in your Fuchsia/purplish SUV or riding on your motorcycle.

"He has risen INDEED!"

It's like you climbed out of the bathroom window one last time. Rest in peace, Fr. Ed.

Until we meet again.

Your words comforted me for years when God knew I needed them the most. Your sermons were powerful. Your humor gave me so much joy. And your steadfast German attitude was impressive! I've always said you were my favorite priest. Now, you are my favorite Angel Priest. Until we meet again, Father.

My condolences to Father Ed's family. May he rejoice in heaven for eternity.
