About Arizona

Arizona, the desert southwest home of the mile-deep Grand Canyon, is the 14th largest state by population, much of it concentrated in Phoenix, Tucson and Mesa. Arizona is home to three awe-inspiring national parks: in addition to Grand Canyon National Park, visitors can find ancient trees and dinosaur fossils at Petrified Forest National Park and huge cacti and other Sonoran Desert flora and fauna at Saguaro National Park. Beyond those national parks, the state is dappled with striking rock formations and the remains of ancient Native American peoples in Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, Wupatki National Monument and many other locations. Arizona is also home to many modern Native Americans, including members of 27 tribes. Sports fans follow the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, the NBA's Phoenix Suns and MLB's Arizona Diamonbacks, as well as Cactus League spring training for fifteen Major League Babseball teams.
