About Missouri

Missouri is a landlocked state in the Midwest. Nicknamed the Show-Me State, Missouri has been called the Lead State because the state produces the most lead among all of the states. Two major rivers, the Missouri and the Mississippi, either run through or alongside Missouri for the entire length of the state. Missouri landmarks include the Gateway Arch in downtown St. Louis. The 630-foot-high arch was constructed as a monument to the westward expansion of the United States. Professional sports helps Missouri’s economy; teams include the MLB’s St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals, the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs, and the NHL’s St. Louis Blues.
