About Montana

Montana is known as “Big Sky Country.” The state is known for their great outdoor scenery which includes Glacier National Park and portions of Yellowstone National Park with diverse terrain ranging from the Rocky Mountains to the Great Plains. Montana is a world class destination for fly fishing and is the home of the Federation of Fly Fishers. The state is also known for their excellent downhill and cross-country skiing along with snowmobiling. In 1914 Montana granted women the right to vote and in 1916 became the first state to elect a woman to Congress. The state had a gold rush in the 1860s and today tourists can visit many of these old ghost towns including Bannack and Nevada City. Celebrities from Montana include funnyman Dana Carvey, Hollywood leading man Gary Cooper and NBA coaching legend Phil Jackson.
