Leona Schmierer Obituary
Leona was born in Sacramento on April 1, 1934. She graduated from McClatchy High School. She married Leland Schmierer on August 10, 1952 and they were married for 69 years. She worked at the State Unemployment Office and 20 years for All State Packing. She became a Christian at a young age and served her Lord and Savior as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, and a choir member for 62 years. She was also a member of the Women's Missionary Society. She liked camping, visiting Monterey, going on cruises, reading books, scrapbooking and baking cookies.
Leona is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Landuk and Florence Fassler.
Leona is survived by husband, Leland Schmierer; daughters, Denise Siewit (Robert), Terri Nakabayashi (Ron); brothers, Leonard Landuk (Helen), Mike Fassler; grandchildren, Jennifer Siewit, Christina Vega (Mark), Bryan Nakabayashi, Lauren Nakabayashi; and great granddaughter, Amelia Vega.
Memorials may be given to World Vision or a charity of your choice.
The family of Leona Schmierer wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Areeckal and Nurse Frey.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 22nd at Gracepoint Church (formerly known as Temple Baptist Church).
