Obituaries from the Past Week

Adams, Violet "Vi"
Violet (Vi) Adams was born on October 16, 1916 in Jud, ND. The oldest of 12 children, she was ambitious and hardworking, and determined to make a better life for herself during the difficult depression years. She moved to California when she was only 18 years old. Upon arriving, she immediately began taking classes at Humphrey's Business College. Always perfectly dressed, responsible, and dedicated, Violet had no trouble finding work, at a time when work was very hard to find. In 1935 Vi met and married Abe Dause and on March 9, 1937 they had their only child, Starlene Dause. After managing the Mark Twain Hotel in Stockton during its WWII hey-dey, Vi and her family moved to Lodi. Then in 1953, they purchased their house and property on Lodi Ave where she would live most of her life. After her husband Abe passed away in 1964 Violet continued to manage their rental properties on her own for the next 5 years. Always an astute business woman, she did very well for herself and her family. In 1968 she met and married Harold Adams to whom she would remain married until his death in 2003. Throughout the years, Violet remained very active in her church and with her friends from the congregation. She also had 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren with whom she loved spending time and who loved spending time with her. Her family and extended family, her friends, and her church remained the most important things in her life until the day of her passing. Violet Adams passed away on January 6, 2015 at the age of 98. She is survived by her brother, William "Bill" Heidinger; sister-in-law, Gertie Heidinger; grandchildren, Lisa Castellanos, Laurie Rishwain and Jack Lipelt; great grandchildren, Michael, Zachary, Jacob and Ryan and her extended family and many friends. We love and will miss her very much. A funeral service will be held for Violet at 10:00 a.m. on January 18, 2015 at the Golden Oaks Seventh Day Adventist Church. Internment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park and lunch will be offered after the internment at the Golden Oaks Seventh Day Adventist Church.
