Dyke, Phyllis Clare (Hines)
Dyke, Phyllis Clare Hines, resident of San Clemente, California, passed away on 13 December 2014, at home surrounded by her family and beloved pug, Tessie. She was born on 23 July 1932, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Juanda Gibbany and Edward F. Hubbard. She grew up in Minot, North Dakota, along with her two sibling sisters, Marilyn and Virginia. Over the years she resided in various locations: Costa Mesa, California; San Juan Capistrano, California; Lodi, California; and Port Townsend, Washington. Her enthusiasm as a school bus driver in 1960's Orange County led to her running Stockton and Chino Unified School District Transportation Departments where she finished out her career. She was an avid Bus Roadeo participant and winner, and very active in C.A.S.T.O. where she served as Treasurer, Secretary and Vice President. As a dedicated Republican she gave a lot of time campaigning with the Republican Party for Eisenhower and Nixon elections. Retirement years were spent tending her beautiful gardens were she fine tuned her skills as a master gardener. She loved collecting, yard sales, antiquing, oil painting and traveling. Phyllis is survived by her four children, Charleen (Felt), Mike Hines, Wayne Hines, and Cheryl (Hiett); eleven grandchildren, and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Phyllis requested no service be held.
