Barbra Bennett

Barbra Bennett, 89, died peacefully on November 14, 2012 in Lodi, California. She was born to Feliciano and Alberta Gomes and was raised in Sacramento, CA along with her two sisters. Upon marrying Warren Bennett, she moved to his home town of Rio Vista, CA where they lived for nearly 69 years. In Jan. 2010 they moved to Lodi to be near family.
Barbra was a homemaker and her priority was always her family - caring for them and spending time together. She was a good cook and always had a home-prepared meal ready for the family to eat together. She was very organized and kept the household running smoothly . Her home was always clean and tidy-despite having five children and a farmer husband who came home from work covered in peat dirt! Barbra was a great seamstress and made much of her young daughters' clothing, plus outfits for their dolls. Until her later years, she was an avid reader and loved to play pinochle and Scrabble, and enjoyed gardening and walking.
Barbra will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her five children and their spouses: Bonnie James (Greg), John Bennett, Donna Lopez Warenas (Tom), Betsy Gardiner (Lee), and Patrick Bennett (Jenny). She was blessed with seven Grandchildren and their spouses: Dustin Lopez (Tiffany), Justin James (Nicole), Carly Lopez Tanzi (Marino), John James (Danielle), Christopher Bennett, Erin Bennett, and Jeana Gardiner. She is survived by six Great Grandchildren: Kadence and Ezra James, Ellie and Hudson James, Bennett Lopez, and Sylvia Tanzi. Barbra will be dearly missed by her sister, Donna Burke, and many nieces and nephews.
Barbra was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jeanne Hess. Her beloved husband Warren passed away in June, shortly before their 71st wedding anniversary. Their 15-year-old dog "Dixie" (Warren's shadow!) also passed away in October.
Our family wishes to thank the wonderful staffs of: The Senior's Choice, Austin Gardens at Emeritus, and Hospice of San Joaquin for the loving, compassionate care they gave to Barbra. Thank you all!
