Benjamin (Bud) Appleton Cushing, age 83 went to be with his Lord on Nov. 19, 2012. Born in Lawell, Mass on July 12, 1929. He joined the Navy in 1949 and attended NAS Patuxant River, Maryland to become an Aviation Electrician. He was honorably discharged in 1953 at Jacksonville, Florida. He returned to his hometown of Billerica, Mass. to continue his apprenticeship at the B&M Railroad. That same year he met his wife of 58 years, Priscilla "Jean" Terren at a roller skating rink. They married on May 8, 1954 and not long after, moved to California "where the jobs were". Bud went to work for AT&T in 1956 and immediately started his 30 year climb in the business to make us all proud. During that time he and Jean had a family of 4 wonderful children. They all learned to enjoy camping over the years. Bud was a Boy Scout Leader and also a Youth Fellowship Leader. He liked to say "California and At&T were good to him". After 30 years, at the age of 57, he and Jean retired to Lodi, Ca. where they were blessed with good health, traveling in their RV, boating, enjoying cruises and dancing (their #1 love) across the Country. Yuma, Arizona was a favorite winter spot where Bud enjoyed singing in the chair. He is proceeded in death by his Mom & Dad, Ben & Nellie and a step-mother, Nettie, and a sister, Dorothy (Chappie), also a half brother, Dick (Elenor), a step-brother, Jim (Estelle) and a step-sister, May (John). He is survived by three sons, David (Robin & 3 girls - Dayna, Leslie & Ellery) Edwin (Cindy & her 3 children - Paul, Jessica & Daniel & Gracie & Jordan (great grandchildren). Another son Ben and a daughter Donna & her 3 children - Tara, Jessica & Christopher and a great-grandaughter - Olivia. Also, 5 nieces - Beverly, Linda, Carolann, Janet & Lynn and a nephew, Wallace (Pat & their 4 children) and other very special close friends. Bud was a loving, caring, hard working man. He loved and cared deeply for all his family, always there ready & willing to help anyone in need. We all loved his smile, his sense of humor and the fact that he treated his wife like a queen. Due to illnesses Bud & his wife have been living at the Vintage Retirement Home for the past 2 years. A celebration of his life is planned for Saturday, December 8 at 7pm at the Big Valley Bible Church, 226 Poplar St., Lodi. To be officiated by Pastor Eugene Willburn.
