David Gould, born on October 26, 1966, passed away October 10, 2013 at Lodi Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. After a defiant fight against Beckers Muscular Dystrophy, David chose to leave this world with the same strength and tenacity that he used to live the years of his life. His strong will and fervent love of life let him use his ailing body to the end. David's family believes that leaving friends and family so quickly and thereby without memories of weakness or disease was David's gift to all of us. Despite being only 46 years old, David not only accomplished more than most, but also touched more lives than many could ever dream.
David worked with his business partners at Creative Vision Printing in Stockton. He was a well-known face of the business and a "mover and shaker" in the community. David served on several community boards including that of Big Brothers Big Sisters, United Cerebral Palsy and the Downtown Stockton Alliance. His greatest passion was his commitment to Defying Muscular Dystrophy, a grass-roots organization started by his sister, Cathy, his nephew Todd Harrison, and himself to help raise awareness about Muscular Dystrophy and fund research to help find treatments for the disease. David served as Vice President of the organization and loved being involved in all fundraising aspects – including their annual Crab Feed.
David left behind the love of his life, partner and wife, Shannon Coffaro Gould, his parents, Donald and Rita Gould, his mother-in-law, Judy Coffaro, siblings, Danny Gould (Carol), Michael Gould (Aura), and Cathy Gould-Harrison (Richard), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Donny in 1985. He had many extended family members that will forever be touched by the joy that he brought to their lives on a daily basis. David Gould, a man who lived in a power chair, was the most active person they knew. He lived with a heart of gold – the most loving and generous, the most stubborn and tenacious – and this is how he will forever be remembered.
David was all about living life to the fullest and loved nothing more than planning parties and events. In extreme admiration for this zest for life, the family would be honored to have friends touched by David's life attend a "Celebration of Life" on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 1pm at Quail Lakes Baptist Church, 1904 Quail Lakes Drive in Stockton, California to give David the honor of being celebrated for his life and contributions in full "David Style."
