David Thomas Prudhel, beloved husband, father, son and brother, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. David was born on December 7, 1953 in Lodi, CA to Arthur and Frances Prudhel. He was 59 years old. David is survived by his wife Dolores, daughter Kristen, mother Frances, brothers Pat (Cassie) and Craig (Connie) and nephews Ehren, Arthur and Lewis. He was preceded in death by his father Arthur Prudhel and nephew Justin Prudhel.
David was a patient, caring, and selfless person, always putting others before himself. He was a friend to so many and always had a positive attitude. He liked everyone and everyone like him.
David was raised in Lodi and graduated from Lodi High School in 1972. He went on to graduate from University of the Pacific School of Pharmacy in 1976. He relocated to the Monterey Bay area for his first job as a pharmacist and worked for Sherwood Care Pharmacy for 12 years where he met Dolores. They married on March 31, 1984 and moved back to Lodi in 1988. David then went to work for what was then Payless Pharmacy and continued working for them for 24 years as they went through several ownership changes being known now as Rite Aid. David loved communicating with his customers and took a special interest in each and every one.
David was an amazing father and when his daughter, Kristen was born in 1993 she quickly became the apple of his eye. He taught her all the joys of hunting and fishing, which were his passion. He also taught her about baseball, more specifically Giants baseball. He was an avid San Francisco Giants fan from childhood and rarely missed listening to or watching a baseball game. Even through his illness he was able to attend Spring Training in Arizona this last March.
In addition to being a pharmacist David worked in the family vineyards with his brothers in early childhood carrying on the traditions of his grandparents. He loved spending his days off from the pharmacy driving a tractor, helping with the harvest or just walking the fields and did so until recently when his illness prevented it. David loved the outdoors and you very seldom found him sitting inside. He loved to fish and hunt and the family freezer was always full of wild game and birds. Many family vacations were spent at Pismo Beach clamming, diving for abalone on the north coast and fishing or crawdadding in Lake Tahoe.
