Donna Lee Otto, age 73, of Lodi, CA, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 2, 2012 after succumbing to brain cancer. She was born on July 1, 1939, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Fred L. Andrews and Ella Nagle Andrews and came to Lodi as a toddler. She attended St. Peter's Lutheran School, Lodi High School, San Joaquin Delta College and California State University, Sacramento.
She worked in sales in the food industry for over 30 years selling to school districts in California, Arizona, Nevada and Texas. During her career she developed many great friendships with her customers and colleagues that were very important to her. She loved her career that allowed her to use her artistic, creative, organizational and interpersonal skills. She was a conscientious and dedicated person who worked up until this past year, retiring at age 73. Donna was an ambassador for California Transplant Donor Network (Donate Life) where she promoted the benefits and need for organ donation. In March 2011, Donna got a second chance at life when she received a kidney transplant at Stanford Medical Center. She enjoyed entertaining with family and friends in her lovely home and got great enjoyment from spending time with her children, grandchildren and other family members.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brother, Steve, in 1987. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jerry Otto; son, Todd and his wife Cindy of Acampo; daughter, Carrie Engelman and her husband Jim and their children Eric and Greta of San Diego.
A memorial service is to be scheduled at St. Peter's where we will celebrate her exemplary Christian life as a faithful member of the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Hospice of San Joaquin for their assistance and compassion and to Stanford Medical Center for their wonderful care of Donna for over 45 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donna's name to Donate Life California, Hospice of San Joaquin or
