Dorothy Irene Miller went to be with her Lord on January 18, 2013 in Lodi at the age of 84 years. She was born on August 16, 1928 near Lemmon, South Dakota to Fred and Elizabeth Wagner. She came to the Galt area in 1936, attended Galt Grammar School and Oak View Schools. She graduated from Galt High School in 1946, and went to work for the Lodi Collection Agency in Lodi as secretary. On November 1, 1947 she married her high school sweetheart, Doyle Miller. They had a small dairy on Alta Mesa Road, and raised three children. She worked part time as secretary for the Herald Fire Department and then as assessor-collector-treasurer for the Galt Irrigation District for 24 years until she retired in 1991. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, 2 sons, Larry and his wife Carolyn, Terry and his wife Tina, 1 daughter, Beverly Pontius and husband Mike, all of Lodi, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. 1 brother, Vernon Wagner and wife Joan of Rancho Cordova.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Elizabeth Wagner, and sister, Lillian Aschwanden.
She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Lodi where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years, Deaconess, Choir Member, and other duties. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family and friends, making ceramics, reading, crocheting, traveling and puzzles. She especially enjoyed doing things for her children and grandchildren.
Committal services will be private. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church on Thursday, January 24 at 11 a.m. Friends and family are invited for viewing at Lodi Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 23, 10am-8pm.
